Senbazuru: Dancer - An as3 flash webcam motion tracking swarm art piece.

Senbazuru

This generative art piece utilizes motion tracking to create a dynamic and ever-evolving art experience. It is based on the traditional Japanese art form of Senbazuru, an origami art form that involves folding 1000 paper cranes. The piece uses motion tracking to detect the movements of viewers in the space and respond accordingly, creating a unique and interactive installation. As viewers move around the space, the motion tracking technology will capture the movement and generate a visual output that changes in real-time. Each paper crane is made up of varying shapes and colors, which will be manipulated and re-arranged according to the motion of the viewers. As they move, the paper cranes will be moved and re-positioned, creating a living art form that is constantly changing and evolving.

A gallery of artistic exploration, experimentation and research into artificial Intelligence (AI) art, social media art,
folksonomy art, interactive motion tracking art, augmented reality (AR) art and cell phone art.

The purpose is to explore ways of translating data into interactive art pieces
- to give a new perspective of what dynamic data is... or can be.

Artist's Statement

I have been passionate about exploring ways of translating data into interactive art pieces,
to give a new perspective of what data is...or can be.

My work focuses on using artificial intelligence and data to create a new perspective on what data is and how it can be used to create meaningful visualizations. By combining AI and data, I am able to create unique and unexpected visuals that explore the complexities of data and its associated themes.

My goal is to challenge the traditional understanding of data by utilizing AI to unlock its potential and create something entirely new and unexpected. Through my work, I hope to show how data can be used to create visualizations that capture the complexity, beauty, and strangeness of our data-driven world.

Sadako Sasaki

Sadako Sasaki is an interactive art piece created to explore interactions between
the viewer and the art. The piece also represents a personal reflection on the story of Sadako.

Sadako also known for "thousand origami cranes", was a Japanese girl who was two years old when the atomic bomb was dropped on August 6, 1945, near her home by Misasa Bridge in Hiroshima, Japan. As she was dying from leukemia which was caused by radiation exposure, she started to fold 1000 origami cranes. An ancient Japanese story promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by the gods.

The art piece uses Adobe Flash for motion detection to change the composition of cranes based off the viewers actions. Naturally, a video camera will be necessary to view the artwork. View the project

Trying to imagine

The interactive art piece is a combination of ml5.js and p5.js, which makes use of machine learning and creative coding. The artwork consists of randomly dynamically created shapes that change and morph in response to the viewer's facial expressions. The machine learning model detects the viewer's facial expressions, including whether they are smiling or not, and whether their eyes are open or not. This information is then used to trigger different reactions within the artwork, such as changing colors, shapes, or patterns. The result is an immersive and engaging experience that encourages viewers to interact with the artwork.
